More COVID-19 cases and deaths reported in Alaska

ANCHORAGE — A third Alaskan has died from COVID-19 as the total number of cases in the state topped 100 over the weekend.

A 73-year-old Anchorage resident was the latest fatality, state health officials announced late Sunday.

The individual was tested and admitted to an Anchorage hospital March 23 and died Saturday.

Authorities also announced there were 12 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, pushing the state’s in the outbreak to 114 as of late Sunday.

Of the new cases, four each were in Anchorage and Fairbanks. Eagle River, North Pole, Juneau and Ketchikan each had one case. The 12 new cases are evenly split between males and females.

The new cases include one person under the age of 18. Four are between the ages of 19 and 29, and two are aged between 30 and 59. The five remaining cases are in adults 60 years old or older.
