ANCHORAGE — An Anchorage child has died of injuries suffered in an all-terrain vehicle accident on Aug. 11.
Alaska State Troopers say that 10-year-old Aaliyahellie Shangin-Andrews of Anchorage died Aug. 19 at the Alaska Native Medical Center.
The girl was riding on the back of an ATV in the western Yukon River village of Grayling when the 18-year-old driver swerved to avoid a pothole.
The girl fell and struck her head. She was medically evacuated to Anchorage.
Troopers say neither excessive speed nor alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident.
