ANCHORAGE — Wasilla police are looking for man suspected of stealing a Salvation Army kettle that contained donations.

Anchorage television station KTUU reported a volunteer bell-ringer Wednesday night was finishing a shift in front of the Wasilla Walmart when the man snatched the kettle.

The bell-ringer chased the man, who ran to Valley Cinema, got into a truck and drove away.

Salvation Army Captain Jeff Josephson estimates the kettle held hundreds of dollars.

He says in a prepared statement that the money would have bought blankets, food, work clothes or utility assistance for needy people.
