Many Juneau residents saw — and probably heard— two F-35 fighter jets land at and depart from Juneau International Airport on Tuesday.

Airport manager Patty Wahto said that while she doesn’t have much information on the situation, with the Juneau Airport being a 24/7 facility, it’s not unusual at all to see military aircraft stopping by to fuel up as the airport serves as an in-between spot for Anchorage and Seattle.

“They were probably doing a fuel stop, but I don’t have any additional information about it beyond that,” Wahto said. “We periodically get military coming through the airport to fuel, it’s not at all uncommon for us to see that here.”
