Energy efficiency nonprofits to hold free workshop

Local energy efficiency nonprofits will hold their annual heat pump workshop on Saturday, Dec. 7.

Renewable Juneau will host its fourth annual Heat Pump Workshop at the University of Alaska Southeast Technical Education Center across from Juneau-Douglas High School from 2:30-4:30 p.m. A panel of experts will discuss the benefits of heat pumps in the home, which a press release from Renewable Juneau claims can save 40-70% on heating costs, as well as other improvements to environmental impact.

Representatives will be present from Alaska Heat Smart, a joint nonprofit established between Renewable Juneau, Alaska Electric Light & Power, the Southeast Building Industry Association, the Juneau Economic Development Council and the City and Borough of Juneau. Representatives will explain some of the cost-saving services the new organization provides. Heat pump contractors will also be there to help answer questions.
