Juneau’s two high school tennis teams hosted its annual Back to School Fundraiser tournament this past weekend in the capital city.

The tournament ran Sept. 12-14 in the indoor tennis courts at the valley Alaska Club, and featured 59 competitors (25 players from the high school tennis team and 34 community members). The tournament raised over $1,000 to help cover tennis team expenses.

The results are as follows:

Junior Division: Matthew Spratt/Karter Kohlhase defeated Kean Buss/Krishna Bathija

Women’s: Aubrey Owen/Virginia Stonkus defeated Adelie/McMillan/Liv Moore (7-6, 5-7, 1-0)

Men’s South: Walter Agne/Michael Penn defeated Art Dee/Chip McMillan (6-3, 6-2)

Men’s North: Collin Kuoppala/Rafa Ramirez defeated George Crowder/Garold Larue (6-4, 7-5)

Mixed South: Liam Penn/Katie Pikul (3 wins 0 losses)

Mixed North: Garold Larue/Mona Mametsuka (3 wins 0 losses)
