Philip Wall and Michael Cesar, teammates on the two-time state-champion Juneau Post 25, are already making their mark in the early going of the NCAA Division III season.

Wall, a sophomore on University of Northwestern-St. Paul, pitched a complete game and allowed no earned runs in a 4-3 win last Friday over Wilkes. He was named the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference pitcher of the week for the sterling performance. The Eagles are 3-2 on the season and have played all week in Fort Pierce, Florida. UNW plays Cairn University today.

Cesar, a freshman on Pacific Lutheran University, hit a home run on Sunday in a 3-0 loss to Puget Sound. The former Gatorade Player of the Year has 13 hits and 10 RBIs for the 12-5 Lutes.

UNW competes in the UMAC against St. Scholastica, Northland, Martin Luther, Crown, Minnesota Morris, Wisconsin-Superior, Bethany Lutheran, North Central. Pacific Lutheran led all Northwest Conference foes last year with a 18-7 league record. The teams they finished in front of included Linfield, Willamette, George Fox, Whitman, Whitworth, Puget Sound, Pacific and Lewis and Clark.
