Capital City Fire/Rescue will hold an open house from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday for high school students interested in participating in CCFR’s cadet program.

Cadets meet three times per month during the school year and learn how to operate firefighting equipment, including Air-Pak breathing gear, saws, hoses and tools.

“Everything short of being in live fires,” said firefighter Sam Russell, who is organizing the event.

The open house will take place at the CCFR training center, 2601 Sherwood Lane. Students aged 14-18 are invited, and anyone interested in learning more can contact Russell at sam.russell@juneau.org.
