Some of the top skaters in the city and state will give people a free look at their skills this weekend.

The Juneau Skating Club is putting on a free showcase this Saturday at Treadwell Arena, including three synchronized skating teams and five soloists who are competing for spots on Team Alaska in the Arctic Winter Games in March.

That showcase, entitled the Winter Exhibition, goes from 1-2 p.m. Immediately afterward, people can get down on the ice alongside the skaters for a free open skate.

The program is partially funded by City and Borough of Juneau sales tax revenue. The Juneau Skating Club is a nonprofit that offers basic skills, figure skating and synchronized skating lessons for people in Juneau.
