The Klawock boys basketball team had little trouble getting past Thorne Bay boys team on Wednesday, winning 74-19 and holding the undersized Wolverines to a single basket in the final quarter.

Klawoack junior Mason Hoppe led all scorers with 24 points on the night, followed by sophomore Nate Yockey with 21 and sophomore Trae Marvin with 12.

The Chieftains jumped out to an early 16-4 lead after the first quarter, and extended its advantage to 33-10 at halftime.

Klawock dropped an impressive 31 points on the Wolverines in the third to end the quarter up 64-17.

Thorne Bay junior Dominic Stephens-Wilson led the Wolverines with eight points, followed by eighth grader Owen Chadwick with five.

Thorne Bay was 1-of-2 from the free throw line, and Klawock was perfect from the charity stripe making both of its attempts.

Klawock's Sylas Macasaet manages to avoid the Wolverines' sea of arms as he makes a basket Wednesday during day one of the Region V 1A Basketball Tournament held at Thunder Mountain High School.
