The United Way of Southeast Alaska held its annual Day of Caring at the end of September in Juneau, matching up nonprofits and businesses to complete projects at the nonprofits.

More than 55 volunteers devoted more than 165 hours during the Day of Caring (which was actually two days, Sept. 28-29). The volunteers were from Northrim Bank, the City and Borough of Juneau, GCI, Shattuck and Grummett Insurance, First National Bank Alaska, Coeur Alaska, United Way Board members and our AmeriCorps volunteers and Wells Fargo.

The volunteers were assigned to projects at AEYC, AWARE, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Bridge Adult Day Program, Helping Hands, SEARHC, Front Street Health Center and Wildflower Court. The day began with a breakfast at DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery.

The United Way of Southeast Alaska also conducted its second Day of Caring in Ketchikan on Wednesday, Sept. 26 and its third Day of Caring event in Sitka on Monday, Sept. 24.
