Juneau Shotokan Karate-Do Club participates in tournament

Seven karate students and chief instructor Diana Stevens from the Juneau Shotokan Karate-Do Club participated in the 2015 Shotokan National Karate Tournament in San Francisco, California, on Nov. 14-15.

Kata is for prearranged form and kumite for sparring.

Students placed as follows:

Doug Murray third place Senior Kata

David Mende second place Team Kata

Kiana Potter first place Kumite

Zacharee Mende third place Kumite

Micha Mende second place Kata

Breana Wilson first place Kumite, third place Kata

David Mende was also awarded the rank of Sandan (3rd degree black belt).
