Juneau’s Holy Trinity Episcopal Church to hold consecration, dedication ceremony

Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is inviting the community to join them for a special occasion this weekend.

The church will be holding a consecration and dedication celebration worship service on Aug. 9 at 9:45 a.m., followed by a potluck brunch at McPhetres Hall. Bishop Mark Lattime will lead the ceremony, with assistance from Rev. Gordon Blue, Rev. George, and Rev. Hunter Silides.

While Holy Trinity was rebuilt after a fire in March 2006 and has been operating since the end of 2009, the church has never been formally consecrated. The ceremony will officially set apart the church and alter for worship and sacred use.

“All are welcome to this ceremony and the festive potluck to follow with Luke Weld playing piano,” said church member Tim Spengler. “Church tours will be available for those interested.”

The occasion also marks another significant milestone for the church, as it recently paid off its building loan which was needed to rebuild after the fire.

The area of Fourth Street between Gold Street and Harris Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the event until 10:30 a.m. according to Juneau Police.

Holy Trinity is a spiritual community that offers a variety of worship opportunities for its members, including daily prayers at noon, services on Sunday, engaging book groups, and other fellowship opportunities.

The church also engages in various ministries in the community, including the Head Start ministry to provide supplemental food support, a backpack ministry that supplies essential items to prisoners being released from incarceration, a monthly dinner at the Glory Hall, the Mustard Seed resale shop, and regular outreach to the Pioneer Home and the Lemon Creek Correctional Facility.
