Hiram Henry, 41, topped the men’s field in Saturday’s Extra Tough 5K and 1-Mile run or walk race and Stephanie Harvey, 27, was the top female and fifth overall.

Henry finished with a time of 18:45, roughly 30 seconds ahead of second-place runner David Phillips, 34, who hit 19:12. Monsour Alzaharna, 55, took a wrong turn that shortened his course and hit 21:17 for third, edging Scott May, 51, who came out of the trees in 21:23.

Harvey’s fifth-place run vaulted her to the top of the 19-29 female age group Empire Cup Standings (57 points) with her run of 22:32, displacing Jenna Wiersma (49 points). Reed Stoops, 66, finished sixth overall in 22:48; Shannon Hasty, 45, edged Colleen Jones, 52, for seventh, 23:12 to 23:13; John Raster, 52, placed ninth in 23:24; William Bishop, 25, rounded out the top 10.

Jamie Bursell, 52, edged Becky Bohrer, 37, in the last yards 25:35 to 25:38, for fourth and fifth among women (13th, 14th overall). Darla Orbistondo, 52, rounded out the top 15 placers in 27:11. Bohrer leads the Empire Cup Global Points Board with 220 points and Orbistondo is second at 198.

Eli Crupi, 10, was the top male finisher in the 1-mile portion with a time of 11:07. Olga Lipson, 21, was the top female and second overall in 12:11, just edging male runner Kaden Quinto, 10, and female Molly Hillis, 42, who hit 12:16 apiece.

Just two Empire Cup Series races remain for runners to improve their point totals for the 2015 season. The Fourth Annual Zombie Run is Sunday, Oct. 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Sandy Beach. The Veteran’s Day Run is Saturday, Nov. 7, at 10 a.m. on the Thunder Mountain High School track.
