Letter to the Editor: Property tax cap could limit Juneau’s services

I am opposed to Proposition 1 that caps property tax

We have an Assembly to manage and to provide the services we can’t provide for ourselves. Those services are everywhere, like when we turn on the tap or flush our toilets. We see firetrucks, police cars and schools. But about the services we have forgotten about? Parks and Recreation’s sports for our kids. How would we maintain and run the airport? Do you use the CBJ buses, the harbors and launch ramps, and the libraries? Building inspectors make sure codes are followed when we build so that our new homes are safe.

I am opposed to Proposition 1 that caps property tax. Think about the Suicide Basin flood and how it would be funded if the cap prohibited the CBJ from handling emergencies such as this. I hope you vote against Proposition 1.
