I am disappointed in U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski’s silence in the wake of this administrations attacks on the Department of Justice, the FBI and the free press.

To allow a president of the United States to brand the free press as “the enemy of the people” should not go unchallenged.

I would hope that the Juneau Empire will register its outrage at this dangerous mindset poisoning our democratic institutions.

I am a Vietnam veteran and a lifelong Bill Egan Democrat who wrote in Murkowski’s name in her last election. What is going on in Washington, D.C. at this time is deeply troubling.

Defend the First Amendment.
