Vehicle rolls over on Egan Drive

The Juneau Police Department received several 911 calls Tuesday morning alerting officers to a crash on Egan Drive that resulted in a car landing upside down.

An investigation showed that sometime before 7:11 a.m., Stanislav Nekipelov, 69, lost control of his 2003 Honda CR-V on the icy roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned the vehicle, according to an information release by JPD Sgt. Krag Campbell. Nekipelov was not injured.

JPD responded along with Capital City Fire/Rescue, and due to the position of the crashed vehicle in the roadway, the right-hand lane of Egan Drive was closed for about 30 minutes. At times, both lanes of travel were closed so tow truck operators could safely remove the vehicle.

Officers issued Nekipelov a citation for basic speed, which is for operating a vehicle at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent considering the traffic, roadway and weather conditions, according to the press release.
