Two judgeships opening in Southeast Alaska

The Alaska Judicial Council is now receiving applications for judgeships on the Juneau District Court and the Palmer Superior Court.

The vacancies will occur due to the upcoming retirements of Judge Keith B. Levy in Juneau and Judge Eric Smith in Palmer. People interested in applying can find applications at www.ajc.state.ak.us. Completed applications are due by 3 p.m. May 16.

The Judicial Council will review the applications, which contain detailed personal and professional questions. After interviews, an investigation and public comment period, the Council will nominate two or more qualified candidates for Gov. Bill Walker to pick from.
