Moms Demand Action to hold Sandy Hook vigil

It’s the seventh anniversary of Sandy Hook.

Saturday, there will be a vigil for victims of gun violence by the whale statue in Mayor Bill Overstreet Park.

The event, led by Moms Demand Action, will begin at 4 p.m. Moms Demand Action is a movement that started after that shooting, and there are chapters of Moms Demand Action in every state, including a local group that’s part of the Alaska chapter.

The upcoming vigil marks the seventh anniversary of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

While the organization’s name is Moms Demand Action, people of any gender may join. Students Demand Action, a similarly minded student organization, will assist with the event.
