People interested in a law enforcement career, or those merely curious what the physical requirements are for one, can join the Juneau Police Department for a free fitness test.
At 9 a.m. May 5 in the Dimond Field House, the department will conduct five practice fitness tests for officers that anyone over 18 (or under 18 with an adult) can take for free. There are no commitments for those who want to take the tests.
The five sections of the test will go in a specific order and there will be a short rest in between each.
The tests are as follows: completing a 300 meter sprint in 77 seconds or less, jumping at least 14 inches, doing 21 pushups, doing at least 15 situps and running 1.5 miles in 17 minutes and 17 seconds.
There is no sign up for the tests, just show up at 2961 Riverside Drive.
