Hunter falls to death on Pioneer Peak

ANCHORAGE — Authorities say a Wasilla man has died after falling down the mountainside at Pioneer Peak.

Alaska State Troopers say 49-year-old Roy Roth had been hunting sheep near Goat Creek when he fell Sunday night. A hunter who was with Roth hiked down and found the man dead.

Troopers were joined by the Alaska Mountain Rescue Group in their efforts to recover Roth’s body from what they said was difficult terrain Monday afternoon.
