Evening at Egan welcomes ‘Molly of Denali’

A university lecture series and upcoming children’s show are coming together.

Friday’s Evening at Egan lecture will feature Princess Daazhraii Johnson, creative producer for PBS’ “Molly of Denali.” The lecture will focus on how the project came to be and how the Alaska Native community has been engaged with the show since its inception.

Johnson will also speak about the damage that media has done in perpetuating stereotypes and the importance of narrative sovereignty for indigenous peoples.

All lectures in the Evening at Egan series are free and open to the public. The event starts at 7 p.m. and takes place at University of Alaska Southeast’s Egan Library.

The Evening at Egan lectures are stream lived, archived and available to view online at https://www.youtube.com/UASoutheast.
