Crime Line crimes of the month for September

The following incidents were reported by the Juneau Police Department to Juneau Crime Line, a nonprofit organization. Tips can be reported at juneaucrimeline.com, by calling (907) 523-7700 or via mobile app available at p3tips.com. Rewards of up to $1,000 are available. Tips can also be anonymous. Crime line is published monthly by the Juneau Empire.

Burglaries

• On Sept. 3 at about 8:57 a.m., the Hot Bite reported the business was burglarized and stole cash from inside. The business was entered between 3 a.m. and 8:57 a.m. The suspect is described as a caucasian male, mid-30s, thin build with shaggy blonde hair, and wearing a Carhart jacket.

• On Aug. 14 at about 9:03 a.m., CBJ Harbors called JPD to report a burglary at the “C” ramp shed at Aurora Harbor between noon Aug. 13 and 8:45 a.m. Aug. 14. The suspect entered the shed, stealing approximately $1,383 in miscellaneous tools. The following tools were stolen: Dewalt 20v Max Drill and Impact with (3) three batteries and (2) two chargers. $349; the Husky toolbox has a ¼” drive, 3/8” drive, and a ½” drive full socket set. $189; Husky screwdriver set (six screwdrivers, three flat heads, and three Phillips) $26; Commercial Electric tool caddy with Klein multimeter and Marinco 30-amp adaptor cord. $300/$60/$80; Husky dead blow hammer. $12; set of Craftsman metric wrenches (8 mm -18 mm and standard ¼”-11/4”). $90; Dewalt 20v Max Sawzall with one battery and one charger. $280.

• On Aug. 13 at about 3:41 a.m., JPD received a report of a burglary in progress at El Zarape restaurant located at 1961 Anka Street. The responsible reported forced entry into the business. Officers arrived on the scene and cleared the building but did not locate anyone in the area. It was reported an empty safe valued at about $1,200 was stolen.

Vandalism

• On Aug. 19 at about 1 a.m., JPD received a report of possible gunshots in the 3000 block of Tongass Blvd. Officers arrived in the area and located a truck parked at a residence in the area that had four windows broken out of it. Investigation revealed the windows were smashed (not shot) by three unknown males. The suspects fled the area and got into a white Dodge Ram truck that fled the area. The estimated value of damage is approximately $2,000.
