All schools but one to open Thursday

Riverbend remains closed due to flooding.

All Juneau schools except for Riverbend Elementary School are set to open this morning, the City and Borough of Juneau announced.

Classes, activities and after-school programs will return to normal operations, according to the city. Buses may run late and are unable to transport students to or from Thane Road because of avalanche risk.

Riverbend Elementary School remains closed to students because of flooding, according to the city. Repair and cleanup work is ongoing, and the building will be inspected for water damage today.

The district anticipates students will be able to attend on Friday, but won’t know for sure until tomorrow afternoon, according to the city. Riverbend families will be updated on this afternoon.
