Evening at Egan: “Assimilation,” a play by Jack Dalton, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9, Egan Library, UAS. Jack Dalton is an Alaska Native storyteller, teacher, playwright and actor. His play presents a dystopian alternate reality in which three White students are wards of the Paimiut Boarding School in the Inuit province of Alaska. Free. Barney McClure’s Cabaret Workshop, 5-10 p.m., Monday through Friday, Oct. 12-16. JACC. Jazz pianist and teacher Barney McClure returns to Juneau to offer a five-day cabaret workshop. Singers will learn the fundamentals of cabaret, including choosing the right material, song interpretation, microphone technique, stage presence and the protocol of being a performer.
