Statewide creative writing contest accepting entries through Feb. 12

The 34th annual statewide creative writing contest in Alaska is accepting entries through Feb. 12. The contest awards more than $800 in cash prizes, mostly to K-12 students, every year, and is sponsored by the University of Alaska Anchorage, the Alaska Center for the Book, and Alaska Dispatch News. Contestants may enter one work of fiction, one work of nonfiction, and up to three poems. A contestant may enter all categories in his or her age group. Entries are accepted at http://www.adn.com/creativewritingcontest no later than 5:30 p.m. Feb. 12.
