Registration now open for Haines Museum Fundraiser Run

Registration is now open for the 2016 Totem Trot Half Marathon and 5K Walk/Run in Haines. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 13, with sign-in beginning at 7 a.m. for half marathoners and 8:30 a.m. for walkers and 5K runners. Runners of the half marathon will follow a course along the Lutak Inlet starting at the Chilkoot River and ending in Haines at the new totem pole at the Sheldon Museum. The walkers and runners of the 5K will start and finish at the museum, enjoying magnificent views of the Haines Harbor, the Chilkat Mountains, and Mt. Ripinsky in addition to the thirteen totems throughout Haines.

The Totem Trot is an annual fundraiser for the Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center, and registrants who raise $200 or more in sponsorships will have their registration fee waived. This year will include a new event attached to the Totem Trot: a spaghetti dinner and silent auction to be held Friday, Aug. 12 at the Haines Senior Center. Carb up before the race and support the museum.

For more information or to register, visit totemtrot.com or call the Sheldon Museum at 766-2366.
