A Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaa.at Kalé student is among the 2021 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced.
Josephine C. Engstrom is the capital city’s lone semifinalist, according to a news release from the corporation.
The academically talented high school seniors, including Engstrom, now have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered next spring, according to the corporation. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award.
Over 90% of the semifinalists are expected to attain finalist standing, according to the corporation, and more than half of the finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship.
