Recognitions for July 22, 2018

• Natalie Wade of Juneau graduated from Luther College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology on May 27. Luther College, located in Decorah, Iowa, is a liberal arts college affiliated with the Lutheran Church. Wade was among 467 students in the college’s class of 2018.

• Anne Weske of Juneau graduated from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota following the school’s spring semester. Weske, daughter of Blake and Sue Kazama, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. Bethel University is a “Christ-centered” school with 5,500 students.

• Laurinne Balstad, a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School, has been named to the spring dean’s list at St. Olaf College. Balstad is the daughter of William and Elizabeth Balstad. St. Olaf College, a Lutheran-affiliated school in Minnesota, names students to the dean’s list if they have a semester grade-point average of 3.75 or higher on a four-point scale.

• The law firm of Sonosky, Chambers, Sachse, Miller & Monkman, L.L.P., has announced that two of its Alaska partners have been named to the Thomson Reuters “2018 Super Lawyers” list. Lloyd Miller received the “Super Lawyer” designation in Native American law, appellate law and government relations law. Richard Monkman received the “Super Lawyer” designation in Native American law, health care law, and appellate law. Mr. Monkman was also recognized as a “Best Lawyer” in Native American law in the 2018 edition of “The Best Lawyers in America.”
