Mike Dilger

Juneau Style

On a stormy afternoon at Eagle Beach, I ran into Mike Dilger, a birder visiting from the UK. Hailing from a similarly wet climate, he knew how to dress for the weather. His good-looking but practical selections included an Arcteryx rain jacket, Norrona fleece jacket, Fjallraven trousers and Meindel boots. His accessories — a colorful Gap neck scarf and, most importantly for a birder, a stellar pair of Swarowski binoculars.

• Juneau Style is a weekly fashion segment capturing how Juneauites dress, whether on the streets downtown, on the fishing docks or on the trails. We believe the Juneau look — XtraTufs, Carhartts, rain gear, all of it! — is something to be celebrated.
