Juneau students earn academic honors, degrees

Student from Juneau named to Marquettes dean’s list

Erica Hurtte of Juneau has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2021 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the university announced. Hurtte is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences.

To make the list, students must have earned at least 12 credits for the spring 2021 semester and have no disqualifying grades, according to the university. The GPA threshold varies by college. For the College of Education and the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences, undergraduate students must have at least a 3.7 to be named to the Dean’s List.

The undergraduate GPA requirement is 3.5 for the following colleges: the Diederich College of Communication, the College of Business Administration, the College of Health Sciences, the Opus College of Engineering and the College of Nursing. All other programs have a 3.75 GPA minimum.

Student from Juneau named to honor roll at Whitworth

Abby Meiners of Juneau was named to the provost’s honor roll at Whitworth University, the university announced.

To be named to the list, undergraduate students must maintain a grade-point average of 3.75 or better during the semester, according to the university.

Students from Juneau graduate from Gonzaga

The Gonzaga University’s Class of 2021 includes a few local names, the university announced.

Simon Marks of Douglas graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in business administration, according to the university.

Gabryel Kito graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in business administration, according to the university.

Claire Uchytil graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology, according to the university.

Juneau students earn honors at Whitman

Jordan Bluett and Grace Newman each earned academic distinction for the most recent semester at Whitman College, the college announced.

This recognition is given to students who have completed a minimum of 12 credits, passed all credits attempted and have earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher on no fewer than nine graded credits during the semester, according to the college.

Juneau students earn honors at Montana State

Several Juneauites were named to the president’s or dean’s lists at Montana State University, the university announced.

Emily Heaton and Mary Landes were named to the president’s list, according to the university.

Jessica Gregg, Alexandria Hayward, Mikayla May, Brysen Mitchell, Leah Neyhart and BriAnna Overturf were named to the dean’s list., according to the university.

To be named to the president’s list students had to maintain a perfect 4.0 GPA. To be named to the dean’s list, students had to maintain a GPA of 3.5 or higher, according to the university.

Local students earn honors at UAS

University of Alaska Southeast recently announced its chancellor’s and dean’s lists for the spring 2021 semester, and the lists included plenty of local names.

The chancellor’s list included: Olive M. Brend, Kiersten Browne, Lillian E. Burger-Pothier, Amber Conoly, Sabrina M. Croft, Tulio J. Fontanella, Trevor L. Fritz, Emily M. Gettis, Tali C. Hadfield, Jasper L. Heuer, Kellianne KinCannon, Logan M. Lesmann, Jennifer A. Mejia, Caitlyn R. Montalto, Chatham T. Moser, Riley R. Stadt, Liana J. Wallace and Robert R. Yates.

Students on the dean’s or chancellor’s list are undergraduates admitted to a certificate or degree program at UAS, according to the university. Eligibility is based on a minimum of 12 credits of graded course work for the semester through the UA system. Honors calculations were prevented for students with incomplete grades or non-submitted grades.

Dean’s list students are recognized for achieving a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99 during the spring 2021 semester, according to UAS. Chancellor’s list students are recognized for achieving a grade point average of 4.0 during the Spring 2021 semester.

Juneau student named to Cedarville dean’s list

Laura Walsh of Juneau, who is majoring in psychology, was named to Cedarville University’s dean’s list for spring 2021, the university announced. This recognition requires the student to obtain a 3.5 GPA or higher for the semester and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
