An Afternoon of Ave Marias to be held at the Shrine of St. Therese

JUNEAU — The Juneau Lyric Opera will present An Afternoon of Ave Marias on Sunday, May 29 at the Shrine of St. Therese chapel.

Local singers will deliver a concert of hand-picked hymns and songs in honor of Mary’s Day. Selections include Ave Marias composed by Schubert and Bach/Gounod, a 20-voice choir doing Biebl’s Ave Maria, made famous by Chanticleer, as well as the rowdy “Hail Holy Queen” from the blockbuster film Sister Act.

There will be two performances, at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m., with a reception following each in the Lodge at the Shrine. Tickets are available at the door for a suggested $10 donation. For advance tickets, call 586-2742
