Alaska State Improv Festival to feature international guests

The Alaska State Improv Festival (known as AS IF) has announced its line-up for the 2016 festival, featuring talent from around Alaska, the United States, and beyond. AS IF 2016 will be presented April 28–May 1 at McPhetres Hall and the Hangar Ballroom.

Headlining AS IF 2016 is Parallelogramophonograph from Austin, Texas. PGraph, as they are popularly known, have been together since 2005 and appeared in over 40 cities across North America, Europe, and Australia performing in improvised narrative styles as diverse as French farce, 1930s drama, and a Wild West medicine show.

B-Teatro from Turin, Italy will be the first international act in festival history. B-Teatro presents Boxeattori, a boxing-themed show where the actors perform several rounds of scenes before one is judged the winner.

Two ensembles come from the world-renowned iO Theater in Chicago. Both ensembles, Winter Formal and Stag, perform The Harold, iO’s signature format.

Other shows include 808, a hip-hop infused improv show from Los Angeles; I Am the Show, a one-man improvised movie dub from San Diego; Rollin’ in Riches, a duo from Santa Monica and winners of the 2015 iO West Doubles Tournament; and, The Right Now, a fast-rising trio from San Francisco who recently featured at Femprov Fest.

Overall, 22 ensembles from 13 cities will be performing at AS IF 2016. A complete roster is available at the festival website – asifest.com. Limited quantities of all-session passes are currently available for $50 each. Single-show tickets will go on sale in April 2016.
