Opinion: ‘Yes’ for Story

Opinion: ‘Yes’ for Story

As a Marine Corps veteran, I look for someone with strength of character and values to represent me in the Legislature, not someone stuck in typical political thinking. Juneau needs strong, honest leadership, not another “just say, no and cut the budget guy!”

We are Valley residents who have been in Juneau the better part of 40 years. We raised our son, Joe, here. I’ve had my own businesses and worked with five governors on both sides of the aisle, including Wally Hickel, Bill Sheffield and Tony Knowles. I represented those governors in dealing with the Legislature, so I know what it takes to get something accomplished: an open-minded, strong person who knows how to get to “yes.”

It’s time Juneau chooses someone who is fully committed to strengthening our community and our state. That person is Andi Story. Juneau families and businesses are counting on the legislature to rebuild our economy and education. We do not need someone representing the capital city who believes we can just cut our way to prosperity.

This is a critical time in our community and state. We need someone who realizes that and can work with all sides and any political caucus to get things done. We need someone who knows how to get to “yes” on education, who can get to “yes” on economic stability, and who can get to “yes” on improving public safety. That person is Story.
