Opinion: We’re glad Galvin is running to represent Alaska

We are exceptionally pleased that Alyse Galvin has thrown her hat into Alaska’s Congressional race.

As former school board members, we are exceptionally pleased that Alyse Galvin has thrown her hat into Alaska’s Congressional race to do her best for our state in Washington. And her best has already accomplished extraordinary things. A third-generation Alaskan, Galvin is the first college graduate in her family, a former small business owner and a mother of four. She served Alaskans under two governors to improve the state’s public schools, and in 2014, started Great Alaska Schools to fight the proposed budget cuts to our already-underfunded public schools. Her leadership grew this grassroots organization from 40 to 4,000 people across the state, and with the help of the people she inspired here in Juneau, saved over $200 million in budget cuts.

We know that she will continue her best efforts to help all children and families when she is in Congress. Putting her in Washington is in all of our best interest. Please vote for Alyse Galvin.
