Opinion: The cost of unfluoridated water

There is a cost in not participating in a proven, effective public health program.

I have raised four children in Juneau. The older two had the advantage of fluoridated water in their youth, the younger two did not. All four children had regular dental visits, cleanings and treatments. The older two had hardly any cavities. The younger two had many cavities.

[Opinion: New study shouldn’t revive fluoridation in Juneau]

Although Juneau has no plans to revisit this issue, I wanted to point out that there is a cost in not participating in a proven, effective public health program.
