Picture the oil companies with giant scissors cutting up our PFD checks. Now, picture that money going into the pockets of the companies’ rich investors and even richer executives. Why haven’t we been getting our whole Permanent Fund checks? Because the state has been reaching into our dividends to cover its costs. And why is that? Because Alaska hasn’t been getting its fair share of oil revenues. We’re giving the oil companies so many tax breaks and incentives that we are paying them more than they are paying us! I say we call their bluff. I say they won’t really leave Alaska if we go back to the tax structure we had before their greedy lobbyists changed it. Stop the oil companies from sucking more of our money up from their wells into their bulging pockets. I urge Alaskans to vote yes on Proposition 1 for our Fair Share.
