Opinion: Maintaining ‘friendship’ with Vladivostok is shameful

I have lived in Juneau for 41 years and this is the first and only time I am ashamed of it.

On April 5 the local assembly publicly committed to maintaining Juneau’s “friendship” with Vladivostok, a city serving for much of its existence as the military headquarters for the Pacific Fleet of the Russian Navy. This collaboration was offered even as the Russian military bombed hospitals, infrastructure and residences across Ukraine.

I have lived in Juneau for 41 years and this is the first and only time I am ashamed of it.
