Opinion: Lockdown was handled well

All-in-all, it was a job well done.

As a parent, I’d like to thank the Juneau Police Department and the staff of the Juneau School District for the professional and straightforward way in which Tuesday’s gun incident was handled. We received real-time email notifications of the situation as it unfolded. It sounds as though students were given accurate information, and my son was able to communicate from inside the school during the lockdown, which was a huge relief. The lockdown was not extended unnecessarily and the incident was not turned into a bigger deal than it needed to be. All-in-all, it was a job well done.
