Opinion: Delegation can lead fight to end Alzheimer’s by supporting critical funding

I encourage our congressional delegation to increase funding for Alzheimer’s research.

From dawn to dusk, our minds turn possibilities into realities. Alzheimer’s disease prevents possibilities to the extent that one in three seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. As I cared for my great-grandmother, I understood firsthand the impact this disease has on families across America. Thankfully, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Sen. Dan Sullivan, and Rep Don Young can play an important role in addressing this critical issue. By increasing funding for Alzheimer’s and dementia research at the National Institutes of Health we begin to pave the way to a better future for all aging Americans. As our nation continues its collective focus in 2021 on keeping people safe and healthy, it is time to honor the requests of scientists and researchers for additional research funding so they can bring hope and optimism to the millions of American families affected by this disease. Please join me and the Alzheimer’s Association in encouraging Murkowski, Sullivan and Young to lead in the fight to end Alzheimer’s by supporting critical funding.

Aaron Young,
