Not restoring fair oil taxes is handicapping Alaska

Would you like us to chop off your index finger, confiscate your automobile or sell your oldest child into slavery?

What works for you?

Forgive the exaggeration but we need to make a point about Sen. Peter Micciche’s (R-Soldotna) cowardly push-poll that conveniently omits the option of restoring fair oil production taxes as a tool to help address Alaska’s fiscal crisis.

Though the new House Majority successfully made minor changes to the previous tax credit scheme, our present oil production tax system is anything but a shrewd bargain for Alaskans.

In the meantime, we are pumping away our limited oil wealth with no thought of the staggering financial burden that will be thrust upon our children.
