Letter: Veterans honor flight

I recently returned from a veterans honor flight to Washington, D.C., the purpose being to see the war memorials and other important sights in D.C. It was a fun and inspirational trip with an overnight at Portland, Oregon, each way to break up the long flight. This was completely free to veterans, who each travel with a “guardian,” so even wheelchair users can go. Accolades from masses of people at airports are hugely offered, including from our own governor and the Anchorage mayor at Anchorage airport.

Any Korea or World War ll veteran is eligible for the next flight in October of this year (they hope eventually to get to Vietnam veterans).

To apply for inclusion, please write to: The Last Frontier Honor Flight, POB 520095, Big Lake, AK 99652.
