Are teachers really doing what they get paid $50,000 to $90,000 a year to do?
Most people would disagree and question if teachers are actually doing what they are supposed to for the amount of money they get.
Students should have the right to evaluate their teachers on some kind of scale. Being able to evaluate your teachers gives the teachers understanding about learning and what they could improve on. Which could mean that kids fall behind in a subject, because the teacher lacked knowing that she or he wasn’t going over the information enough for kids to fully understand.
Teachers do have the authority over students and can give them whatever grade they feel is deserved, which can be good in some cases. But some teachers are biased when they are not supposed to be. When someone is getting paid to do a job, then they should do it right.
Evaluation forms can be found all around other school websites, and the Juneau School District could just adopt one of those evaluation systems. It’s the law to go to school until you are of age to drop out or you graduate. The students should have some rights since most of them are taken away at school depending on the school. Students should have the right to grade teachers.
