We were married in Moose Pass, a quaint town on the Kenai Peninsula, just north of Seward.
Most of our guests were from the lower 48 and were enraptured by their first glimpse of Alaska. During the ceremony, which backdropped against a sweeping view of Upper Trail Lake and the Kenai Mountains, a roaring engine rattle upstaged the preacher right at the most crucial point!
Just as he was saying, "Do you Greg take this woman, Jennifer...", the noise edged him out completely so that it looked like he was only mouthing the words (whatever they were)! When the noise seemed it couldn't get any louder, a brilliantly shiny red floatplane roared out from under the large deck on which we had assembled the party. All of our guests, including the entire wedding party, turned to stare at the plane, and watch it climb and then soar off in the distance. Most of their mouths were either hanging open or grinning ear-to-ear.
When the roar became a more tolerable hum, we noticed another noise... it was the clicking of cameras, as everyone was snapping away at the plane!
We couldn't have planned a better "Kodak moment" for our tourist guests - it is still the main topic of conversation when our guests remenisce about their unusual Alaska adventure.
