Writing Your Own Vows

More and more brides and grooms are writing their own vows.

Writing vows is a good way for brides and grooms to show their love for one another and to share it with their family and friends. No matter how much you love someone, it can be hard to express what you are feeling. Give yourself plenty of time. Many couples will leave this very important part of the ceremony until the last moment -- you should plan for this with as much attention as you have the rest of the ceremony. It will come much easier to you if you are not rushed.

Also remember that your vows don't have to be a piece of literary art. Don't worry about what everyone else is going to think about it. This is simply you telling your fiance how you feel about him. It can even be something as simple as, "I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you." It doesn't have to be a complete speech. Remember, this a day for you to enjoy Just relax and look into your future spouse's eyes and tell them how you feel.

If you do want a more formal speech, just make sure to give yourself plenty of time to write it. It may help you to write down words that describe your fiance, marriage, love and even what you envision your future to hold. You can use this list as an outline to help you begin your writing. There are also several books available to help you write vows.
