Wedding Trends

The latest wedding trends

Planning a wedding is all about the details. From picking out china and the flowers to the bridal wardrobe - it's a lot to think about.

"I've had a lot of input, whether the input actually sticks is another question. I try to help out when I can and I think she listens. But mostly I'm leaving it up to her because she knows what she wants," groom-to-be Mason Miller said.

First on the list for most brides is picking a dress. Strapless continues to be the most popular style right now. Satin fabrics, gowns with beading and accented backs are also strong. To top off the look you need to think about looking like a queen.

"The tiaras are the hottest thing going. (It) accents the hair, beautifully frames the face, keeps some of the veiling away from it so you can see the beauty of the bride and the dress," Judy Busocker, director of marketing with Bridesmart, said.

For the guys, traditional is in and accented with a splash of color if you please.

"What we have here is a Joseph and Feiss (see video for demonstration). It's a very flexible, three button coat. You can button the coat up if you wear a vest then you still see enough vest to show such as right here. All these vests come in numerous colors you can coordinate them with your bridesmaid dresses or you can go simple or trendy such as black and white," Tommy Pond, operations manager for Men's Wearhouse, said.

To add even more color - flowers. Brides are asking for hand-tied bouquets - a bouquet of mixed flowers tied with ribbon on the stems, but there's a trend to watch out for: cascading bouquets.

"Well, there actually is trend for them to coming back. England actually sets the trend for most of what we do, but we do it two years behind them," Rita Woods, with Occasions Made Special, said.

A wedding reception wouldn't be complete without the perfect wedding cake.

"Brides are going for simple things. They like seem to like stacked cakes and simple elegance. A lot of simple designs, beaded borders, smooth sides. They seem to like fresh flowers. I think the wedding cake bride and grooms are a thing of the past," Susan Gothard, with Lucy's Cakes, said.
