The word "wedding" comes from an old Anglo-Saxon term that referred to a vow by a man to marry a woman, but also to the bride price that the man was to pay to the bride's father. Believe it or not, the root word carries the literal meaning of "to gamble."
But just like we've left the practices of getting a bride by kidnapping a young attractive woman or by buying her from her parents, you want to get as far away from gambling with your wedding day as is humanly possible.
It is, after all, very possibly the most important day of your life we're talking about.

Location, location, location...
...eh... No.

When it comes to weddings, location actually isn't everything. If you plan ahead in time, and have the help of a good wedding coordinator, you can create your dream wedding even in the remotest of locations. If you're an avid ice climber, you might want to get married on the glacier in climbing gear. But you can also helicopter in and get married in traditional wedding attire!

Either way, you will have a unique memory that you can cherish for a lifetime.

Tips for Getting Married at...
your guests
As wedding plans develop, keep family, friends, and wedding attendants on the same page with a wedding newsletter created via print or the Internet. They'll appreciate the information you provide, and you'll save time and money by paring down the number of phone calls you need to make.

Send your first wedding newsletter at least three to six months in advance. If your wedding is scheduled during Juneau's peak tourist season, your guests from afar need to ample time to make travel and accommodation arrangements.
