Governor to host annual open house
JUNEAU - Gov. Sarah Palin is planning the annual Christmas Open House at the Governor's Mansion.
The open house will be held Dec. 9 in Juneau, and features a 17-foot Lodgepole Pine provided for the mansion by Jim McFarlan and the Thorne Bay Business Association.
More than 20,000 cookies are being prepared for the event.
Members of Palin's cabinet will serve hot apple cider and treats.
The open house tradition dates back to New Year's Day 1913. It has taken place every year since except for two years during World War II.
