Sam Hall, left, and Aivine Soakai put symbol ornaments on the Christmas tree on Nov. 30 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. The church will hold a special worship service about the symbols and stories of holiday traditions at 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at 9161 Cinema Drive. "The service will explain the meaning behind some of the most common symbols of the Advent and Christmas holiday season," said local Aldersgate pastor Judy Shook. "This carol singing service is great for all ages as a preparation to face the bombardment of commercialism and hold to the deeper reason for the season."
