Trail Mix will host its annual auction and barbecue at 5:30 p.m. tonight at Centennial Hall.
The event was previously billed as a "gala," but the term was dropped after some of last year's attendees showed up in ball gowns, said Trail Mix project coordinator Garrett Goodman. The evening is an informal affair, he said.
Admission to tonight's event includes a buffet barbecue dinner by The Spinnin' Pig featuring ribs, chicken and pulled pork; live music and dancing with The Great Alaska Bluegrass Band; a no-host bar and more than 100 auction items, including flightseeing tours, outdoor gear, fine art and more.
Tickets are $35 for Trail Mix members and $40 for non-members, and are available at Hearthside Books, or by calling the Trail Mix office at 790-6406. Tickets will be available at the door, but guests are encouraged to buy in advance as the event has sold out the last two years.
Proceeds from the event will support the organization's work on several popular Juneau trails in 2010, including major work on the Treadwell Ditch Trail and the new Under Thunder Trail in the Mendenhall Valley.
Trail Mix is a local nonprofit organization that brings together volunteers and city, state and federal agencies to build and maintain Juneau's trails. For more information, visit www.juneautrails.org.
